The only top-mount IC i've seen on a DSM was a real ghetto set-up on a 1G in Phoenix. Painful to look at. He put spray on insulation on the IC and took a sawsall to the hood to direct the airflow to it.
The other Phoenix guys on this board will remember it for sure. Just ask about Dietrich.
