A buddy and I were discussing this earlier. I told him that the fine can be up to 4500 a year if you go uninsured. He lol'd and told me I watch too much Faux news.
He then proceeded to "school me" by looking it up on the official .gov site. Turns out it will be 4800 a year fine but not until 2015.
He said he wasn't worried because he'd just sign up for a catastrophic plan to avoid the fine. Did a little digging, turns out that catastrophic plans don't qualify and you'll still get the fine.
