Forge BOV

I think I'm too the point where my crushed 1g bov is a weak point of my setup. I want to push around 25-30psi, so I'm thinking it is going to be a weak spot this summer. I've been looking at new BOV's to put on, mainly the Greddy because it will work with my 1G flange. But I was looking at these Forge units. They bolt right up to the 1g flange perfectly, and they seem to be getting great reviews. Anyone on here used one before? The one question I have about these, is the direction the recirc pipe faces. Is it adjustable? I keep seeing pics of these and some face the same as a 1g bov, and others face to the side, parrallel with the bolt holes. Wierd. Anyhow, anyone have any experience with these? If not, then I suppose I'll be a guinea pig here and order it in a couple days!!

Members on EvoM seem to like them. If you did a search there you'd probably find some reviews.

Yup I have read reviews on there. That is mainly where I've heard the good feedback actually. Doesn't seem like to many people in the DSM community use them, but the EVO peeps really seem to like them. Actually it's my buddy from Pensacola with an EVO who pointed me towards Forge when I told him I was looking for a new BOV. And he told me they have one that fits perfectly onto a 1g flange. Right now I'm just kind of searching around to find the cheapest place to pick one up at, and then I'll be ordering it!

Why more DSMers don't use these, I don't understand. Everyone wants a TiAL, even if they're only pushing low 20s on boost. The Forge units have proven with no leaking that they can handle 25-27psi. I have yet to hear of anyone boosting enough to make one leak, though I imagine they top out before 30psi.
As for me, I plan on getting one when my 1g no longer meets the demand. It makes life easy... get a 1G BOV flange on your pipes... uprade to Forge when you need it!

I noticed, most the EVO guys run their Forge RS BOV. They don't make the RS for 1g's. So I'm wondering if the one that mates to the 1g flange will have similar performance to the RS ones the EVO guys use. I wrote them and asked them, so we'll see what they say.

Well now I'm just trying to wifure out which of the 2 I should get. They have the regular one which looks like this...

I still run a 2g MAS so I'd be getting the one on the bottom for recirculation. Mike at Forge Motorsports told me that this will hold without a problem at 30psi.

Also he told me that I can get the RS model with a 1g flange attached. The RS model he said is larger, so it can bypass more air. It looks like this...

Basically from what I've gathered, it'd be comparible to like a TIAL, able to bypass a larger amount of air.

Of course I'd like to have the larger one, but it will cost $85 more then the first one. I am running a 50trim, so I'm thinking the first one will probably work fine for my setup. Anybody have any thoughts on that? Does a 50trim at 25psi really push out that much to justify getting the larger one?

"Bigger" and "smaller" don't mean too much. Could you get CFM or Lbs/Min figures? If not, I would say that you should be able to go with the "smaller" of the two. The smaller looks to not be adjustable so that is a concern, I would go with the "larger" for just that reason. But you don't have the listen to me; my car doesn't have a BOV.

I know the larger one uses a 50mm bore, but no idea on any cfm's. And yes you are right that the larger one is adjustable. He is going to give me the hieght and length measurements of that valve, so I can measure and make sure I have room for it. If I do, then I think I'll just go with that one. That way in case I go with a larger turbo down the road, then I'll be fine!

Wow, if that larger one is a 50mm bore, that thing is huge! The BOV is at least 2 1/2" around, so it must be over 5" tall by looking at the picture.

Rule #1 - Never get a BOV that is larger than your turbo!

Well I just got her in the mail yesterday. I went with the cheaper one as I was starting to think the RS was overkill for me. It comes with 4 different springs for different boost levels. Red being the stiffest and should handle over 30psi. I think I'll be happy with it!
